One garage, one drum roaster, six farms

Northwind started in 2016 with a 5kg roaster in a Portland garage and a standing order from the cafe across the street. We still roast in small batches to order, still buy from the same six farms and cooperatives, and still ship the day we roast.

Nothing sits in a warehouse. If a bag reaches you more than three days after its roast date, something has gone wrong and we would like to hear about it.

How fresh is the coffee when it arrives?

It is roasted the day it ships, and the roast date is printed on every bag. Rest it three to five days, then use it within four weeks.

Whole bean or ground?

Either — choose at checkout and we grind to your method. Whole bean keeps better, so it is what we send unless you tell us otherwise.

Do you ship outside the US?

Canada, yes. Nowhere else yet: we would rather not send coffee somewhere it arrives stale.

What if I do not like it?

Tell us within 14 days of delivery and we replace it or refund it, and you keep the bag. We would rather find you the right coffee than argue about a return.

Can I pause a subscription?

Any time before the next roast date, from the account page or by asking the assistant. No notice period, no fee.

Is this a real shop?

No. Northwind Coffee is a demonstration store for Busymate AI: real catalogue, real policies, real assistant — no orders, no payments, no real customers.
